Rural tourism management in indigenous territories: ¿identitary revitalization or homogenization?

The purpose of this article is the analysis of the enlightenment’s civilizing equalization led by the Spaniard Crown in the colonization process of the Americas, compared to the tourist activity as an equalization phenomenon resulting within the framework of the ecotourism activities in indigenous communities. For this analysis, it has been developed a literature review about the construction of the emancipated nations of America, as well as on the international and internal legislation concerning the acknowledgement of the practices and values of the indigenous cultures, the state of the prospection for the territorial granting of these ones – adding some data about the yukpa case— and one theory about the meeting culture in the frame of the tourist activity. In conclusion, the management of the tourist activity is part of the free cultural determination and the changes as part of this obey to the dynamic characteristic of culture.
