Popular knowledge of locations of the Falcon State. Case: Bariro y Goajiro

Abstract

This paper intends to spread popular knowledge of the locations of Bariro and Goajiro (Falcon State), framed in the value of creative and productive work, principles of 21th Century Socialism. It is based on the theories of Baez (2008), Sequera (2004) and Mosonyi (1982) . The methodology consists of ethnographic study. Semi-structured interviews was made with a script of 12 questions analyzed by Atlas -ti program; three informants were interviewed. Among the major findings have these popular wisdom: cabañuelas which method is used to find out which months will be rainy or summer; the cayapas crown , a kind of collective work to do in one day ; the salves are singing the saints , as sort of beg . Hence the importance of publicizing these popular knowledge and thereby contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of peoples, rescue the historical memory and evaluate the same.
