From El Cardonal to Los Laureles: Memories of those displaced by oil

With the arrival of oil Zulia state changes its physiognomy, specifically on the East Coast of Lake Maracaibo, generating a dynamic that responds to this new business and has its most faithful representation in the camps and / or oil cities. This oil boom increased the population in cities related to productive activity, people coming from different parts of the country wanted to be part of the new economic configuration, which in turn led to the abandonment of agricultural fields and the development of makeshift housing. The present study aims to visualize the influence of oil on the movement of the inhabitants of “Verdugo” to “Los Laureles”, how these through their memories make a reconstruction of the most significant moments, their adaptation to the new style of life in Los Laureles and how through everyday manage to preserve their identities.
