Identities and social representations of the neighborhood Punto Fijo I: A Geohistorical Reconstruction Experience

Abstract

This research has as its main axis the reconstruction of the historical memory of the inhabitants of the area “barrio Punto Fijo I”, emphasizing social knowledge and dynamic space that is generated from relationships Pluri and intercultural , these , that build local identities, with the precepts of Matos (2006), Geertz (2003), Abric (2001 ) , Hérin (2006) and Fiore (1985 ) . He turned to the ethnographic method for addressing the main characters of the community, field visits and interviews.Two visits to the house of Mr. Humberto Chirinos, one of the founders of the community, where he met with this family circle and participant observation are highlighted in this article. The geo-historical reconstruction implies the recognition of social actors of the community as protagonists of their history, as they are those who live in their immediate and mediate environment.
