Abstract

The study at the Pichincha Educational Unit explored the challenges that teachers face in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the teaching-learning process. Using a mixed approach, documentary and non-experimental design, 18 teachers were surveyed, evaluating five dimensions: technological infrastructure, digital skills, institutional support, resistance to change, and evaluation. The results revealed that deficient technological infrastructure and insufficient training are significant barriers, with most teachers reporting deficiencies in access to the internet and updated software and tools. There was also variability observed in the digital skills of teachers, with many not feeling fully prepared to effectively integrate ICT into their teaching. The study also identified significant resistance to change and the need for more robust and strategic institutional support to facilitate the integration of ICT. In conclusion, the research underscores the importance of improving technological infrastructure, providing continuous training in digital skills, and strengthening institutional support to overcome resistance to change and optimize the use of ICT in educational processes.
