Educational management for environmental risk mitigation at the Aquiles Nazoa Educational Complex. Valera-Venezuela

Abstract

This research promoted a participatory educational management to mitigate the environmental risk due to slope undermining at the "Aquiles Nazoa" Educational Complex in Valera, Venezuela, strengthening a culture of prevention. This study originated from a participatory situational diagnosis of the study area, and the applied methodology was framed within the socio-critical paradigm through Participatory, Transformative Action Research. Techniques such as participant observation, brainstorming, and focus groups were used to determine critical nodes. The results allowed for the formulation of transformative actions based on the collective's prioritization of needs. It is concluded that risk mitigation is an essential management and supervision process to guarantee comprehensive safety and educational quality. Furthermore, the artisanal utilization of Vetiver stood out as an entrepreneurship strategy that links the school with endogenous development and environmental preservation.
