Dialectics, as a method of understanding change and development, allows us to interpret social and political processes as phenomena in constant transformation, determined by specific historical conjunctures and contexts. From this perspective, the subjective world transcends the paradigmatic and the controversial, manifesting itself as a dynamic process that is articulated with the collective memory of peoples. As expressed by Eduardo Galeano in The Open Veins of Latin America (1971), “collective memory becomes a fundamental element for understanding the present and for the struggle for a more just future”.
In this issue, Perspectivas brings together a series of contributions that invite us to reflect on the construction of new rationalities in Latin American thought, exploring how these can transcend the subjective and historical structures that have shaped our region.
